My name is Linda Meyer. I lost my son, Michael to SUDEP July 5, 2014. He was 36 years old when he died.. He began having seizures as a teenager but in spite of that he graduated from University of Buffalo with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. While working he soon realized that being on construction sites was not the safest place to be with a seizure disorder. He then decided that he would like to work in the health field and got a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Touro College. He loved his job and the great friends and coworkers he met at work. Those years were some of the best years of his life. We were so proud of him. He eventually met someone and fell in love. He got married in April 2012. Unfortunately his wife died of suicide a little over a year later. It was a tremendous shock for Michael and for the rest of our family. He moved home after that and he was living with me and my husband when he died. Exactly one month later my grandson, Jaxon Michael was born. I also have a granddaughter, Kayla. They are the lights in my life at this difficult time. I also have a daughter, Nicole who is married to Chuck and a son, Luke who is married to Melissa. They are also my reason to go on. It has been the toughest time of my life. No one can fully understand the impact that has on a person and a family.
